Nichols (Grace) House is built.

Architect: William Chase. Designed in the Mediterranean style, it is located at 107 Chestnut Street. The 23-room mansion is built for a friend of Isabella Stewart Gardner and is said to have been built to reflect Fenway Court. Subsequent occupants include Edwin O’Connor (1962-65) and Serge Semenenko. The building is converted to five condominiums in 1981.
